Rob Riley was a British comic strip in the 1960s and 1970s. It was a black and white strip drawn by Jes s Blasco. It was a fairly realistic strip about an eponymous contemporary British schoolboy, set in the fictional town of Westhaven-on-Sea. At one point he obtained a scholarship to a public school, the strip dealt with the social issues this raised. Slightly unusually for its time, he had a black friend.
It started in the Ranger, but it transferred to Look and Learn along with the better-known The Trigan Empire. Look and Learn was a weekly educational magazine for children published by Fleetway Publications Ltd from 1962 until 1982.
It contained educational text articles that covered a wide variety of topics from volcanoes to the Loch Ness Monster; a long running science fiction comic strip, The Trigan Empire; adaptations of famous works of literature into comic-strip form, such as Lorna Doo≠ and serialized works of fiction such as The First Men in the Moon.
